Rachel teaches the Wednesday morning General Yoga class. This class is blend of ‘vinyasa’ or flow-style yoga, Iyengar style yoga poses, body and breath awakening poses.
Rachel is passionate about yoga and has been practicing a variety of yoga “styles” for 16 years; Ashtanga -vinyasa yoga, Iyengar yoga, dynamic chakra dance, acroyoga, pregnancy yoga and yoga for children. Rachel has an interest and love of understanding body movement and anatomy and has a previous sporting background in dance, horse-riding, triathlon, martial arts,running and swimming. Rachel also works part-time in the field of veterinary science. Rachel completed a 200 hour intensive yoga teacher training at The Cairns Yoga Academy in 2009, followed by Advanced yoga training in 2010, studying under Susi Davies and Ian Laver. Rachel has since furthered her yoga training annually, studying with Paddy McGrath (spinal awakening), Mark Robberds (Ashtanga yoga), Jason Nemer (Acroyoga), John Stirk, Nicky Knoff, Angel Kids yoga training and pregnancy yoga with Karen Schlegeris. Rachel also teaches children’s yoga.
Yoga is a wholesome practice for mind, body and spirit, and is a lifetime journey and practice. Yoga not only has physical, mental and therapeutic benefits, but will calm and clear your mind, release tight muscles and release emotional blockages and tension that may be stored in the body. Yoga will take you on an all-encompassing inward spiritual journey which is never-ending, inspirational, rewarding and joyful.
